- How to choose topics in BA program?
Answer: There will be a combination of subjects which are offered by each college. You have to choose from those combinations and study them for the next three years. Please see the prospectus for the combinations being given, and the criteria to qualify for a combination.
- Can I study a subject in college that I have not studied in eleventh-twelfth grade?
Answer: Please check the university guidelines for specific details. In general, you have B.Sc. syllabus. In addition, a stream change is allowed. In 2019 admissions, however, the university made changes to the stream by cutting qualification marks.
- Do I have B.A. Hons (Economics) without doing Mathematics in class XII?
Answer: No, you cannot.
- When seeking admission, we should give preference to the course or college?

Answer: Yes, these courses are different. B. A. The program is a more general course where a set of subjects / subjects are studied with an equal weightage. It does not lead to specialization in any particular subject. On the other hand, B.A. Honors is a course that focuses on only one discipline / subject. A student earned a B.A in a discipline. a. Enrolled for Honors, studies 18 papers of that particular discipline (14 core papers + 4 optional papers) in 3 years.
- B.A. Honors (Sanskrit) is taught in Sanskrit?
Answer: Hindi and English are the medium of teaching and learning. You have the option to learn and write in any language. The subject is taught bilingually.
- Is English mandatory for the B. A. program?
Answer: Yes, English is a compulsory language course. You will have to study two languages as a part of the BA program: English and an Indian language, in the first and second years (ie, more than two semesters). For example, if you choose English and Hindi, you will be doing a paper in each of the two languages in the first two years. In practice this means one language paper per semester. Miranda House also offers other language options in lieu of Hindi, such as Sanskrit and Bengali.
- What is AECC and B.A. Are program students also required to do these courses?
Answer: AECC merit promotion is a compulsory course. It is studied by all first year students. The course consists of two modules, taught over two semesters. One is a language course. Miranda House currently offers classes in English, Hindi, Sanskrit and Bengali. The other module is a course in environmental science. These are both credit courses (ie, marks are included in the final category). So, yes, B.A. Students of the program are also required to undertake these courses.
- In B.A. What is the difference between MIL Hindi or Hindi as a program, discipline?
Answer: B.A. Hindi is mandatory as a language for Students of the program. (Please refer to the prospectus for the structure of the BA program.) Hindi as a discipline subject is an option that a student can choose. Hindi as a language is taught for only two semesters, while Hindi as a discipline subject is taught for 3 years in all 6 semesters.
- What is a general elective?
Ans: This is a subject which is taken by the student from a domain other than his / her specialization. The student is expected to take one generic elective course paper in each of the first four semesters.
- What subjects are taught in BSc Physical Science at Miranda House?
Answer: Three subjects, Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics, each of which have equal weightage, are taught as a part of this course. The college does not offer a combination of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the BSc Physics course.
