When Michael Beale rejected the opportunity to become the new head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers, QPR looked to be a rejuvenated outfit having expected their boss to leave for pastures new.

However, out of nowhere, the Hoops have now collected just one point from a possible 12, scoring just one goal in the process and losing to bottom-placed Huddersfield Town from a winning position last weekend.

That was supposed to be the fixture which got QPR back on track, but it has instead raised further questions about their character and consistency upon retaining the services of Beale.

While the former Aston Villa assistant’s reputation is not necessarily any lower than it was a few weeks ago, he will be aware that QPR eagerly need to get at least a point on the board on Saturday if they wish to put a positive spin on what has otherwise been a solid start to the campaign.

QPR still sit just seven points adrift of leaders Burnley, who play second-placed Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, but they are also now just three points clear of 11th spot.

Callum Doyle is on standby to replace Michael Rose in the centre of the Coventry defence, with the latter needing to be withdrawn during the latter stages of the win over Wigan Athletic.

Unless Robins insists on freshening up his starting lineup, that could prove to be the only change to the team.

Jimmy Dunne is in line to replace Leon Balogun in the centre of the QPR backline, and further alterations are expected after the defeat to Huddersfield.

Taylor Richards could finally be given his first start of the campaign in a creative role, possibly taking the spot of Albert Adomah.

Tyler Roberts is again expected to miss out through injury on the same week that he failed to secure a spot in Wales’ World Cup squad.

Coventry City possible starting lineup:
Wilson; Doyle, McFadzean, Panzo; Eccles, Hamer, Sheaf, Bidwell; O’Hare, Gyokeres, Palmer

Queens Park Rangers possible starting lineup:
Dieng; Laird, Dunne, Clarke-Salter, Paal; Iroegbunam, Field; Chair, Richards, Willock; Dykes

The Sky Blues host QPR on Saturday 12th November at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Taking place the day before Remembrance Sunday, the game will see Coventry City honour and remember our armed forces.

It is our closest game to the Coventry Blitz anniversary, which will also be remembered.

There will still be a minute silence before kick-off and players will be wearing the Poppy on the front of their shirts.

There will be Standard Bearers pitchside, while the Last Post will be played by Band Sergeant Hugh Sutherland, of the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, Warwickshire. A military band will also be playing from 2pm to 2:30pm pitchside.

There will be a special feature in the matchday programme, which also includes a Poppy on the front cover, and content on the scoreboard.

There is also going to be fundraising for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, with fans encouraged to donate on the day at the stadium or online.

We will be displaying photos of supporters who have served in the Armed Foces on the big screen at the Coventry Building Society Arena, during the minute silence and throughout the day. To submit these,  before 5pm on Thursday 10th November.

Serving Armed Forces personnel can get discounted concessions tickets for the game, and for all Coventry City home games. Coventry City is also proud to be part of the Tickets for Troops scheme.

In 2020, Coventry City formally signed the Armed Forces Covenant. The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly. In signing the covenant, the Sky Blues committed written pledges of support to the Armed Forces community.

The Coventry Blitz of 14th November 1940 was a night that changed the City of Coventry forever as around 500 German planes embarked on operation ‘Moonlight Sonata’, a bombing raid which caused utter devastation to the city and its people. The official death toll from that night was 554, but the true figure was likely to have been much higher, with many Coventrians missing and unaccounted for. At least 1000 more people were injured, and the entire city was profoundly affected by the events of that night.
