Leeds United will be without Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich.
Jack Harrison may miss out with a muscle strain and the game comes too soon for Adam Forshaw
I’ve really not got a clue what will happen here. Spurs boss Antonio Conte says his players are tired, yet they have this record of fighting back in games this season – so that does not really add up.
I was genuinely delighted for Leeds boss Jesse Marsch that he followed up his win at Liverpool by beating Bournemouth, because he has had a bit of flak this season.
I am really not sure about Tottenham’s defence but they have to respond here after a bad week and, with Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski in contention to start, they will be dangerous.
This is the type of game where either side could win it, even if they fall behind – but I am going to go with Spurs.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
- Leeds have lost seven of their past nine Premier League games versus Spurs, winning once.
- The Whites have lost five consecutive Premier League away matches in this fixture since a 2-1 victory at White Hart Lane in February 2001.
Tottenham Hotspur
- Three defeats in four league matches is as many as in their previous 24 top-flight fixtures.
- Spurs are winless in three home matches in all competitions, directly following a 10-game competitive home winning streak.
- They could lose three consecutive home league matches for the first time since May to September 2008.
- Tottenham have failed to score in the first half of each of their past eight games in all competitions.
- Harry Kane is the first Spurs player to have scored in six consecutive top-flight home fixtures since Martin Chivers had a run of seven from August to November 1971.
Leeds United

- Since returning to the top flight in 2020, Leeds have conceded 34 goals in their 14 league matches in London.

Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to snap a recent poor run as they host Leeds United in a Premier League fixture on Saturday. Leeds have shown some good form lately but could find things difficult against a wounded Spurs side.
Tottenham have found things difficult in recent weeks and are in desperate need of a win. They have won just once in their last four Premier League fixtures and have dropped to fourth on the table with the likes of Manchester United and Brighton breathing down their neck.
Antonio Conte’s men suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool in their previous Premier League fixture. They followed that up with a 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday.
One of the problems for Tottenham Hotspur is a vulnerable backline that is without a clean sheet in the last seven matches across all competitions. However, Harry Kane continues to fire at the other end of the pitch and could be the spark for their resurgence.
In contrast to Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United have impressed in recent weeks, winning their last two Premier League matches. First, they picked up a 2-1 win at Liverpool before claiming at thrilling 4-3 victory over Bournemouth in their previous fixture.
However, like Tottenham, they also crashed out of the Carabao Cup. Jesse Marsch’s much changed side were beaten 1-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderes in the third-round clash on Wednesday.
Although they rested players on Wednesday, that defeat is an extension of a poor record on the road for Leeds United. They have won just once on their travels this season and travel to Spurs with four defeats in their last five away matches.
Not since winning the EFL Cup in 2008 have Tottenham added to their trophy cabinet, and another chance of silverware has now gone begging for Antonio Conte after his side bowed out of the tournament in the third round at the City Ground.
Despite naming an XI packed full of first-team regulars, Tottenham succumbed to Renan Lodi‘s curling strike and Jesse Lingard‘s header in a 2-0 defeat, only a few days on from coming up short against Liverpool in the Premier League, but their schedule in the New Year will now look a lot less daunting with no more EFL Cup games to worry about.
Having initially managed to keep pace with Arsenal and Manchester City at the top, Tottenham have fallen off the pace in recent weeks amid their dismal spell of form and have slipped behind Newcastle United to fourth in the rankings, while Manchester United are only three points behind with a game in hand.
Tottenham will enter the World Cup period safe in the knowledge that their Champions League last-16 place has been confirmed, with AC Milan lying in wait in the knockout rounds, but winning just two of their last seven games in all tournaments is an alarming statistic.
The Lilywhites have also conceded first in each of their last seven matches in all competitions and are at risk of going four games without a win at home for the first time since June 2020, but one consolation for Conte is that his side have scored in all of their home encounters so far this term
Tottenham remain without key duo Cristian Romero (calf) and Son Heung-min (eye) for Saturday’s game, although the latter has confirmed that he will represent South Korea at the World Cup following surgery.
Ryan Sessegnon was forced to play through the pain of an injury at the City Ground after Spurs had used all of their five substitutes and is also out of this one, but Conte has been handed two major boosts in attack, with Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison both coming off the bench in the EFL Cup.
The Spurs boss has expressed hope that both players will be fit to start this one, while Djed Spence provided a bright cameo off the bench against his old club on Wednesday, but Conte will be expected to bring in Emerson Royal, having been reluctant to hand Spence minutes in the top flight.
As for Leeds, Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw, Archie Gray and Luis Sinisterra remain out until after the World Cup, and Marsch has also conceded that Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich will be missing, with the former taking a knock to the knee in midweek.
Jack Harrison has also emerged as a fresh doubt due to a muscular niggle, but the visitors are hopeful that the attacker will make himself available in time for Saturday.
Joe Gelhardt will also need assessing after coming off in the loss to Wolves, where the Whites made as many as 10 changes from the side that overcame Bournemouth.
Fresh from being named in the USA squad for the World Cup, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson will be among those to return, while Summerville can also expect a start on the left-hand side.
